Numbers stamped into A-frame (not VIN)

In the process of rehabbing the A-frame I removed the stainless steel overlays on the two sides of the A-frame. Under the one on the curbside I found the VIN stamped into the top of the frame rail.

On the road side of the A-frame there is another number stamped. It is numerals only with no letters, and it does not look like a VIN.

Anyone know what this other number is?

I didn't know that frames had a serial number of their own. Interesting...kind of like the step van I used to have which carried two VINs - one for the chassis (from Ford) and one for the body (from Grumman). Was always fun when I went to the DMV.

Is there any reason I'll ever need to know the frame's serial number?
