No Install Soft Start.

Just found a new product that might be valuable and easy to use.

Note: I have not connection to this company.

And so you don't have to visit the website, the price is $599, which they say is $300 off the $899 regular price! $899 you can by a new a/c for that.

Im not real sure what the price of new AC has to do with installing soft starts. If you want to run 1 AC on house twenty amps or two Acs on 30 Amps or using a generator they are useful.

I check prices at the standard Soft Start runs around 350 bucks per AC and around 200 bucks labor if you want someone to install it. Two at 350 that's 1100 bucks and One AC is 550. Then you still have to factor in the cost of a Surge Protector/EMS and couple hundred bucks. I would never never plug in an RV with at the very lest of surge protector at the pole since I say a 500,000 motor home with Surge Guard installed inside the RV took a lighting strike come though the pedestal and totaled the RV.

I would be interested in some real world reviews on this. I have not installed a soft start on my AC yet because I have yet to buy a generator. But when I do get a generator this could be an option. I suppose you could just plug this thing right into the generator?

I will be very interested in seeing your results with this new Softstartup unit. Lucy currently has a brand-new ac unit with a brand-new Micro-air soft start unit. Hopefully, I'm good for a while. I am very interested in this plug and play unit for future applications.

Not sure what the advantage is.
I put EasyStart $300 on Dometic BriskAire 13,5 labor at Camping World was $130.
A 2000w Champion Dual fuel would start bit only run 15 mins. HF 3500 OK
But I got a killer deal on a brand new Champ 4500 remote approx $750
All is good!

I just received my SoftStartUP last week and will be testing it out in a couple of weeks. I'll post my experience when I get back.

It's also a surge protector. Is it resettable or do you trow the thing away if it trips?

My question would be how this device affects the operation of the other appliances. Since it is installed at the post it is not strictly targeting the a/c. What happens when the microwave or coffee maker or water heater or power tongue jack (etc.) demands a lot of amps and the soft start reduces the amps available? Can this be harmful to other systems? However, I might be interested in a product like this for the times we are on generator power. Installing the soft start directly on my a/c is on my bucket list.

So are you saying that the Champion Dual Fuel and EasyStart on the 13.5 AC only worked for about 15 min? We’re you using propane and at a high altitude? I only ask as I have been thinking of installing the EasyStart or SoftStart and buying the Champion 2000 Gen.

Well I don’t have pre-soft start experience in our Flying Cloud 23 with 13,500 BTU A/C, but I can tell you we can run the A/C and all the power we need off a 15amp connection (we are right now). No microwave though.

I've been on their website and viewed some videos that answer some of these questions.
It wasn't mentioned that I saw whether the surge protector function would kill the device or if it's resettable. Curious minds want to know...
It's a 30amp device, 50amp is coming they say. Though if this allowed me to run both A/Cs on 30 amps it would achieve some of my goals...
And it would be more economical that the 2 devices installed as someone mentioned above.

I installed a SoftStart on both my front and rear ACs. Like a 20 minute job for each. Glad I did. Instructions and a few You Tube videos made it a snap.

They got a work out last summer when i had to go generator-only while at a Harvest Host site in hi 90s.

No experience with the plug in item, but wanted to encourage you if you were hesitant to climb up there and take on the challenge.

Yep. Had to bite the bullet and get the more powerful machine, and the weight gain, from 50 lbs to almost 100 lbs. all that just to run the AC on gas at 5k’ elev.
On a positive note, dBm is <70, loaded at 5 and 7 k’ elev.
Also performed well in Quartzite on near 100F days and I can run the micro w AC and have a meal in comfort.
Plus, you get the added benefit of running your home off the 4500 in an emergency.
The batteries required to do that job are cost prohibitive at this time, but def in the plans to eliminate noise and CO.

I'll be curious to know how it affects use of the microwave/convection oven, since it might try to intervene and ramp up the amperage, which could negatively affect the functioning of the oven.
