New Dometic Refrigerator Falling Apart

This an extension of my earlier post about Camping World. I emailed everyone on the planet who was affiliated with Camping World. 48 hours later I got a reply from the president of CW telling the CW store in Eugene, Oregon to make things right. Happy to say they did and were nice about it.

The refrigerator I bought last year was the only brand and model that would drop into the existing cabinetry of a 1976 Airstream. It has a 2 year warranty. The guy got it in and buttoned up by 6 pm but the hinges on the doors are on the right. I asked why they did not install it with the hinges on the left like we ordered. The technician said that they will order the kit and install the new hinges when they get in. Never happened.

Been emailing Dometic. They are telling me that they do not have any more kits that would allow me to reverse the doors and put the hinges on the left. Anyone had a similar problem?

Three months ago a piece of the door trim next to the handle cracked. I might be able to epoxy it back on but the crack runs through the handle pivot. If you want to open the fridge you have to hold the handle in place when you open the door. Last month a complete piece of trim just fell off the lower refrigerator door.

Does this sound familiar to anyone here?

Are Dometic products made so flimsy that they start cracking or trim falling off before the warranty is over? Bet that was not in their business plan.

In the past 8 years we have had nothing but good service from Dometic.
With just a phone call, I’ve gotten warranty parts shipped, replacement parts for out of warranty ordered and delivered to my home and good tech support.
I would call and explain your situation. They have always been more than happy to help.
