New axles and Brakes will not fit the origanl MAG wheels

Has anyone else run into the problem of replacing their axles with new Dexter axles and new Kodiak disc brakes and the original mag wheels rub on the caliper??? The wheel need to come out about 1/2" to clear the caliper.

I just did all that work only to find out after wards that the rims hit the calipers. Short of replacing the rims, does anyone have an solutions?

Welcome, if I understand your problem, they make spacers to move the wheels out. Available from any auto parts store.

That was my first response to the problem. I talked with Kodiak about that and they said 1/2" spacers would push the rim to far on the studs and there wouldn't be enough thread to hold the bolts tight and too much weight would be on studs with the potential of shearing off the studs.

That is a common problem when going to Kodiak discs and the original aluminum wheels. I believe that the only solution is to purchase new wheels.

What hubs did you use? Kodiak makes hubs integral with the discs and hubs the discs slip over. The standard spec for the wheels is 0 offset. Has someone tod you to get wheels with a different offset? I'm thinking of going to discs on my Classic; I have the Sendel T03-66655 wheels. I was thinking of Kodiak discs but now you have me wondering.

Can you move the calipers in with a different mounting plate instead of moving the wheels out?

Al

Was this a kit specific to your AS? If so Kodiac should make it right if you were not informed. I have been considering the upgrade for our Bunk but not if I need to buy new wheels as well.

Inland is completely responsible for this; don't let them duck out.

PM Buttercup on this forum, he went from the standard 1970's disc brakes to Kodiak and had to purchase new wheels.

Do you think that Kodiak should have a master list of every wheel and which ones fit on their brakes and which ones don't? I have Kodiak disc brakes on both trailers and they fit over steel wheels.

Yes absolutely especially when AS has got to be a prime market.

Digging this thread up from the grave
I am running into the exact same issue. Replaced axles and installed new kodiak disk brakes, now need to buy new wheels.... So I was wondering if you found wheels that fit, in 15" by any chance as I already have the tires...
