Monitor panel '89 Excella
Anyone know where I can find a monitor panel or at least the circuit board for an 80's vintage unit?
My gauges worked fine until this spring and I believe it is the board that is gone.
I would love to have them work again as we are doing more and more boondocking...
Any leads/suggestions appreciated!
Bill

Bill,I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but...Buy an inexpensive 12v LCD plug in meter from Camping World. Much better indication of overall battery condition. Open toilet flap and use flashlight to assess remaining volume. When the water comes up thru the shower drain, the grey tank is full and the fresh tank will probably be empty by this time. My experience in the 5 A/S I've travelled in has been the monitors don't work very well after a short period while in service.

Bill,at my local salvage yard in North Florida there were about five of these complete panels in wrecked Airstreams. The owner of the yard died last year, so I don't know if the business is still running. (Pick will know, he lives nearby). However, I presume there is an RV salvage yard near you.
In any case, I have to agree with peagreen, that the display panel is very poor. I've spent many hours attempting to make mine into a robust and accurate unit, and have now decided it's really not worth the effort. The basic engineering of the panel is just inadequate, IMHO. (As an example, the recalibration system for the thermometer is hopelessly crude.)
Nick.

Hi Guys, no luck with local salvage yards...
the old unit lasted 18 years. I will be happy if another one gives me a few years...
Nick, can you get me a name or number or town fot hat yard?
Thanx, Bill

Bill, details of Bob's RV are at:
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f44/...rts-31458.html
However, Bob died last year, and when he was alive there was no shipping of parts, only personal service.
Nick.

Bill, Mike (forum name Pick) lives not far away. You could PM him. I won't be near there until December.
Nick.

Thanx Nick. I did PM Pick, maybe he can help.
If not, and you are willing, I will catch up with you when you get to Fla. We are almost done for this year.
I am hoping to have this fixed by next season.
I know lots of Folks say it isn't worth it, the Engineer in me just strives for perfection.
We have been doing more and more boondocking and I hate trying to guesstimate how much water we have left...
The waste tanks I can live with. But the water is a PIA.
Another option is to make my own gauge. But this would mean mounting it inside the cabinet. I would prefer to keep the original look.
Thanx for you help. Sorry for my "gauge obsession".
Bill
