Minor interior flood - what to do?
My wife and I took a 2 week road trip to Yellowstone and the Tetons. It was a great trip with only one problem. On a long day with few rest stops on the road, Britney decided to use the bathroom. She turned on the water pump, but forgot to turn it off. Somewhere on a bumpy road, the kitchen faucet got knocked open. Of course we had the cutting board covering the sink, so the water didn't have anywhere good to go. some of the water could have found its way through the 1" hole in the cutting board.
We discovered the problem when we pulled into the campground that afternoon. We have a 18' long runner carpet that soaked up a few gallons, plus there were some towels and clothes that soaked up a gallon or two. We were also able to sponge up about another gallon or two. Our 39 gallon freshwater tank was about 35-40% full, so about 13.5 to 15.5 gallons came out of the faucet. Maybe 10% of this went through the cutting board hole and down the drain, so then 12-14 gallons leaked out onto the floor. My guess is that we removed about 6-9 gallons, 3-8 gallons went elsewhere.
My question is whether there is an easy way to take off just a segment of the belly pan (its a 2018 model) to check for moisture and/or mold in the insulation.
What would you do if this was your Airstream?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Run the AC to help dry out. Otherwise, just give it some time, no harm done, it will dry. Common mistake and has happened to many. As well as turning off the pump, leave the cutting board/sink cover off for travel as a second line of defense.

Is portable dehumidifier. We have just bought one and it removes a LOT of moisture!!! They are $$$ about 180 for ours... 30 pint and I empty about 4 times a day we also run 2 AC in our 34’... so when only aAC we run over 60%. With Dehumidifier I am at 24 today..

Thanks for the reassurance. It helps that we were experiencing some dry weather out west (for me). I have a humidity gauge and the relative humidity was regularly in the 35-45% range (which is really dry for a Minnesotan).

A rubber band around the handle as a second line of defense helps. I asked airstream to replace the faucet under warranty with one that doesn't have this self-on-while-you-drive feature, but they say no. "It's not a bug, it is by design".

You will help water to run out of the belly pan and other areas if you elevate (or decrease) the tongue jack. Don't ask me how I know this . I also second using a band (we use a woman's hair band) to hold the faucet in place.

Hi
Just for reference .... the bathroom faucet can bump open the same way ... errr .... ummm....
If it's good and hot out, open all the windows and run the vent fans.
