Micro-Pulse Tank Sensors - Inaccurate Readings
None of the 3 tank sensors are registering properly. After emptying, they still read as partially full. What can be done to fix?

Micro-Pulse Tank Sensor Manual
kebrita,
I've included a copy of the Micro-Pulse Monitor Manual for reference.
All the best!

The Micro-Pulse system is almost impossible to keep functioning correctly. I installed it on our 2002 and finally gave up and installed the SeeLevel system. It functions much better.

micro pulse monitors
Stremn, Thank you for the manual. Next time i have the waste hooked up i will try the re-calibration. Appreciate your help.
Tim, So what your saying is if the re calibration does not work, and for many it has not, i might be able to install the seelevel system?

Yes, the SeeLevel system can be retrofitted. The process may not be simple because of the need to have access to the outside of the tanks to attach the external sensors. For my refit, I rewired. Others have had success by doubling up the four telephone-type wires from the Micro-Pulse sensors.
No tank-level indicating system is perfect. So far, the SeeLevel system appears to be the best available.

Much has been written about tank sensors and inaccurate readings. Briefly, the sensors are relatively short strips glued to the outside of the tanks. Since they are not exactly the height of the tank and the tank is not always level, inaccurate readings are likely. The strips can be mounted to read either 100% full or 100% empty. The accuracy is reduced when there is accumulation of stuff on the inside walls of tanks. Mineral deposits, crud and stuff inhibit the accuracy.
Recently, we had the tanks cleaned with a high pressure, power washer type wand inserted into each tank, swirled around for a while and released all sorts of clinging matter. All good now so don’t blame your sensor.

This is true only for the SeeLevel sensors. The Micro Pulse sensors are completely different.

Yes. The Micro Pulse sensors measure the pressure inside a tank and are exposed to the liquid in the tank. The SeeLevel sensors stick onto the outside of the tank and measure through the tank wall without any exposure to the liquid inside.
We retrofitted the Micro Pulse system and then replaced it with the SeeLevel system in our trailer. The SeeLevel system has been much more accurate.

I recall when Airstream first started with the Micro Pulse tanks monitors how they were supposed to be a final fix for the constant tank level problems.
My panel was replaced and re-calibrated at the factory after about 6mos of dismal results, and MP sent me another panel, which I installed and then followed the re-calibration steps (wastes a lot of water) less than 6 mos later. Within a few months that panel also stopped registering correctly, then became hit or miss if it even reported some of the tanks.
I just gave up on it and wing it.

Assuming a proper install, the SeeLevel is consistent and flawless in it's accuracy. Mine has been installed for years. Never varies a bit.

You learn how your usage fills and deletes the tanks. The monitors provide a rough estimate, but with a few trips you can get the idea.
