Making Progress 49 Liner
Let me first say that I have it super easy compared to what a bunch of you go through getting these back on the road. I've been looking for an older the better Airstream for the last two years, anything anywhere east of the Mississippi River, but small for storage considerations. I finally found this Liner this summer. Body and belly pan are super straight. Original floor rock solid as it sat in a barn for the better part of 40 years. I arrived the 700 or so miles away with new tires, jacked her up, removed the wheels, greased the bearings, installed new tires and wheels and we were on our way. Came with the original Aluminum/Stainless galley and overhead cabinets in excellent condition. I've removed the peel and stick 60's early 70's era flooring and installed a new sheet of Marmoleum. I've begun framing new cabinetry and bathroom. I've received all I need to install a new electrical system from the pole to the the converter/inverter. I'm going for a late 40's deco cigar bar look for the interior as I didn't want a 1949 exterior with a much more modern interior look. I'm a contractor so I'm doing this project on my own as time/money and weather allows. It's finally below 300 degrees Kelvin down here so it's time to rock and roll. I can post more pictures if anyone is interested. Thanks for having me.

Wow...😳 Welcome Aboard...
That looks pristine...do you plan on leaving the exterior 'patina'? 👍
Looking forward to more pics.

Patina
Yes I plan on keeping the Patina as it's very even looking and I'm spending my money in other places on her. Original aluminum around the step just needed some love. Again...new Marmoleum flooring. Replaced the rusty screws with stainless. I'm wrapping the new cabinetry with a composite burlwood that's sold in 4' x 8' sheets used in luxury boat building down here. Retails for around $350 a sheet. I picked up 6 sheets off of craigslist locally for $300. Wrapping the edges in aluminum w/stainless screws for a period correct look. Tan welting against the walls. Used large pieces of cardboard and a compass to get things tight against the airplane-like fuselage. We're weekend warriors so a new 120v Fridge only will do the trick for us.

Patina...
So glad to hear...we jumped in the shiny pool when we got our 63' Safari...regret.
Polishing did not fit what what we thought we wanted...after 18 yrs of recuperation, it was looking pretty good when we sold it. 👍
Let's see that interior. 😂

Time crunch
We're spending the 27th of December through New Years at Crooked River State Park In Georgia so the heat is on to get her close to being done. Not sure why pics 2 and 3 rotated 90 degrees. Installed new aluminum "riveted" wheels today. Ordered new pole awning tonight. I'll post more pics tomorrow. So far so good, sorry if this isn't your cup of tea for you purists. Love your Safari Robert!

Outside Electrical
New wheels installed and today I installed a new pigtail up front. Replaced all bulbs and bingo...everything works. Take a look at how clean that lower pan is. Amazing condition.

Hi: Stumbled on your thread today. It is an amazing Liner, maybe the best one I've seen before any exterior renovation.
Here is a photo or two of Liners I've come across. The first one is on display at the Airstream factory in Jackson Center. The second one was at a vintage rally I attended last summer. I figured you might be interested in them.

Thanks David!
I've never seen one with two doors before. That has to be super rare.

Tomorrow...New interior wiring. New main feed and panel, new circuits for the bathroom, fridge, and portable A/C unit that I'll vent out of a window.

All that work would take me a week! I did install new AC power distribution panel, or breaker box in my Overlander. I installed a second outlet in my galley And I will run a new circuit out of the breaker box for a microwave. But I have not wired an entire trailer.

Wiring
I'm not having to mess with the original wiring in the walls as they are just about mint and there's no way I'm opening them up. The additional circuits are easy to run when the new walls/cabinetry are essentially wide open. I'm sure you could do this!
