Looking for qualified repair person

Hello Everybody,

Iím about to put my 2005 30í Classic on the market and need to have someone repair the ignition spark on my cooktop, the fan on my Dometic heat pump, replace a broken mirror, cabinet locks, etc. I donít want to do business with CanAm RV and hoped you might recommend someone who can do these repairs. The local trailer repair shops say they canít get the parts. Thanks for your help.

With RV supplies in high demand and shortages everywhere is it possible to just leave those items unrepaired and adjust the price.

And maybe another local owner can help with the easier tasks to get you on the market.

Have you tried looking at dometic for authorized repair partners? Sometimes independents are listed on there and they will even come to you on a mobile truck.

I suspect that anybody you talk to will have the same issue with getting parts. There also is the issue of just what's wrong with the fan on the heat pump ( it could be a whole range of things).

Best guess is you will be doing well to get a long list of stuff fixed by this fall. Is that mid August or mid October? There is no way to know. Either way, you are well past the spring selling season. You net out better doing the DIY fixes now and selling it "as is" for the other stuff.

Alternative two would be to give somebody like Out of Doors Mart in NC a call and see when they can fit you in. If anybody has parts, they would be the folks who have them.

Most of what you need fixed can be done by any good Handyman, including the fan on the AC. If it is just a Motor on the fan then that can be sourced from any small Motor Repair shop. I did it myself, and for two home ACs for under $200. You just need to show the person how to get up on the roof of the trailer without crushing the aluminum.
Take the broken locks to the RV Centre(s) near you and they should be able to pick those right off the display shelf.
