Looking for a business or private individual for complete resotoration

Hey folks...searched a bit for some info to no avail..so here goes

I have a 68 Caravel that needs quite a bit of work and I am looking for a reputable business or private individual to take on the project over this winter. I am tied up with work and do not have the space,I live in NYC.

The work is extensive..the shell would need to come off, the axle replaced and the floor joists inspected.

The plumbing, electrical, heater, and kitchen counter all need complete overhaul.

Gladly email photos and further details to anyone interested. I would prefer to have an individual passionate about airstreams do the work as opposed to a business.
Any referrals would be appreciated. The location of the referrals ideally would be the northeast, but will travel for the right individual or business

Thanks for reading

I suggest Colin Hyde in Plattsburg, NY. Formerly with GSM Vehicles, a member of the panel of pros on TheVAP. PM him at Colin H on this forum.

I know you prefer an individual, but, if that doesn't work out for you we highly recommend Timeless Travel Trailers. Yes, they are a business; yes, they are in Colorado. But, they are passionate about their work, they'll do exactly what you want (if it can be done), and they can arrange for your trailer to be shipped out to them and back.

www.timelesstraveltrailers.com

We have been extremely pleased with the quality of the work they did on our trailer. They handcrafted metal countertops, a shower, wood cabinets, etc.

What's your budget? Sounds like in the 25000 and up range. You are much better off dealing with a signed contract with details about what and how and for how much and by when.

Here's Colin H - very good reputation!

Hampstead38 has had his Airstream at an incommunicative procrastinating shop in South Carolina. And feels more gratified working with a shop in Ohio. So check out P & S Travel Trailer Service, Helena, Ohio too.

Better reputation shops have a lineup of work to be done. Don't make that spring camping plan until your rehab is actually in production.

I've heard good and bad about each of these recommendations. Like anything else pay your money and take your chances. When you take your car to the shop you expect a ball park estimate. Where I take my trucks and cars they call me if it looks like it will be more "before" they start taking stuff apart. You should expect the same with your trailer. Don't get involved in the common drop it off and we'll see how it goes. Get a contract and be realistic about what this will cost. If it's too much then sell the trailer and buy one that needs less work. In the end it will be worth less than you put into it if you go to sell it.

Just had a emergency body repair done by Colin H. Spent several hours with him and I would say he really knows his stuff. Did not however get to see much of his finished work as it was all work in progress, but have heard good things elsewhere.

I am also looking for a good help on a few rehab projects and polishing. Bad experience in MO.
Any other suggestions in the midwest and comments on Timeless Travel Trailers and P & S Travel Trailer would be great. Thank you.
