Light on Front Jack won't go out

I was pulling my Flying Cloud FB25 the other day, and the electric line that connects to the back of the truck drug too low and wore through my electrical line. It was totally frayed. I unplugged and took home. I cleaned both ends up on my trailering electrical cord and used butt connectors to ties each color back with it's respective color. When I plugged in shoreline power the little light on the jack came on. Light would not go off till I disconnected the battery (both positive and negative sides). Now I can't keep the little convenience light on the jack turned off. It burns 24/7,. There is no switch. I need help to know how to turn off before it burns out. Thanks, Navasota, Texas

Hmm, I have never seen one of the tongue jacks without a switch for the light. How did it operate before? Your umbilical cord should have nothing to do with power to the jack and light. The negative connection is through the baseplate of the jack to the frame of the trailer. The positive connection is direct from the battery through a fuse holder probably on the jack post. You can remove that fuse to kill power to the jack and the light. I am having trouble seeing how your cord event impacts power to the jack light.

I appreciate your response. I just gave the whole scenario to try to figure it out. I don't know how the cord event impacts power either. Just trying to give the full account. Where is the switch to the jack light? Maybe that's a simple solution. I can't find a switch anywhere.

The switch should be a toggle switch next to the switch for the jack.

Yep on my 2014 the switch for the light is located next to the switch for the jack.

My Barker brand jack has a rubber boot over the light switch. The boot is getting old on mine so it is hard to turn off.

Hi

A lot depends on what jack you have. Stock jacks are one thing, if you have replaced the jack with another brand, that's something else altogether. All of them have switches somewhere to turn the light on and off. Mr Google will help you find the manual for whatever model jack you have. That should show you the location of the switch.

This is indeed something that needs to get worked out. That tiny little LED *can* flatten your battery if you leave in on long enough (like for weeks ....).
