Keeping the medecine cabinet door open

There have been threads and posts from frustrated airstreamers wanting a solution to keeping their medicine cabinet door open (for those models where there is still a medecine cabinet).
The most common solution, the one I used, is the "door piston" that compresses when you close the door and expands to open the door when unlatched.
After a few years of use I noticed that when you close the door you are leveraging pressure on the door hinges, which after a while, will pull out the hinge screws.

The alternative is a mechanism which does not exert pressure as a piston does but simply stabilizes the door in place through adjustable friction.
In the pictures you can see that I installed one on each side of the cabinet; and in the center of the "arm" you can adjust the friction which a regular hex key/Allen wrench. You can find these on Amazon. They are a little tricky to install, which means getting the position just right for the max opening angle you want (probably 110 degrees); I recommend trying it out on two pieces of plywood to avoid extra holes in your cabinet.

Original hinge has adjustable tension hidden on arm

Hermes, that looks like a nice solution.

I considered alternatives until I found this post and the original arm has a spring tension adjustment somewhat hidden.

After tightening up the spring, the mirror now stays up at the ceiling without any additional effort.

On my unit (a 2016 International) the medicine cabinet hinge has no spring mechanism, it's just a straightforward hinge so you needed to hold the door open with one arm and use the other hand to access things.

Ah, that explains it! Your solution is perfect.

I wonder what year they made the change? It’s funny because after Airstream made the change owners complained about the same issue because AS never adjusted the spring tension out of the box and the doors would hang half open. Once you tightened the screw the door was fine.
