I have a ‘94 Classic 36’ Airstream with a diesel pusher. Last evening after arriving at our boondocking spot all of the lights went out. When I fired up the generator the outlets wouldn’t work? So I started the motor and all the lights went back on (and fridge, etc). But turning the motor off caused everything to shut down again.

This morning was the same…until all of the sudden the lights went on again; I fired up the generator and the outlets worked…everything good and back to normal; for about 6-8 minutes. Then, everything back off.

We’re 700 miles from home and will get it looked at when we return; but just wondering in the meantime if anyone had any ideas or suggestions?

There are a couple dozen things it could be .... when did you last check / replace / add fluid to the house batteries?

Do you have a voltage readout on the main DC bus? What does it say as all this is going on?

I would *guess* that "lights out" means zero volts ( or something really low ). If not then that's a starting point.

I would not be surprised to find something obscure like one of the thermal breakers being the culprit. It's rare that they go defective / hang up, but it does happen.
