Interior shower delamination 2017 CCD 19'
In the shower there is a piece of the cabinetry melamine that fills the gap between the shower board and the shower door. This material is water resistant but not water proof. This is just below the shower faucet. This is delaminating and I need advice on how to repair. Still under warranty but I would rather DIY or take it to a formerly certified AS repair facility. Pics show the area the MFG caulking job and the delimitation.
I repaired mine after about 7 years of use. Had a local shop cut and laminate a new piece of plywood to fit using the old one as a template.
These days there are some composites out there that you could look into as well.
The other option is to call customer service and see if you can work directly with them to ship you a new divider wall. It’s easy to remove / replace - just some caulk and a few screws.
When we bought our 19' trailer new in 2002, I looked at that part of the shower and decided it was not watertight enough for me. I filled in the space with light plywood so that it's flat between the fiberglass wall and the door. I then used easy-to-cut, 1/4" foam vinyl sheet (Sintra Board is one brand) to cover that area and caulked it thoroughly. It is still in place, looks perfect, and has never leaked or warped.
