Interior door/drawer latches
This is our 2nd Airstream with wardrobe and drawer latches that don’t stay fastened. After several times with everything on the floor and a broken drawer we’ve taken to using bungee cords to secure them.
Have others had this problem? Have you found a solution or replacement?
I have found, in general, practically anything from the marine industry is superior to most anything in the RV industry. This is certainly true for door latches.
Here's what I found and used on a refurb of my Caravel:
These not only look sharp, they work very well in keep doors, drawers, hatches, etc. closed. They open and shut easily, and come with locks for optional security. There are also versions without the locks, but they cost the same. These also aren't that expensive and are not plastic.
Yes, we have had problems with our drawer latches - particularly the drawer that opens/closes length-wise of our rig. Always had to slam it close for the hidden latch to catch securely. Now it seems to be worn down given that it doesn’t catch any longer. May replace or find an alternative closing method.
On our Classic,('03) the drawer bottoms have a lip, lift up the drawer and open, haven't been a problem.
Doors another story, I switched to bead latches years ago, they have worked out well. 3M 4200 helps to secure the screws and together with toothpicks fill the old holes👍

A screw trick on how/where to drill the male side, close the door, push and drill where the dimples are.
