Hi. I am slowly replacing-repairing all the attachments on my 2003. I've settled on the #6 aluminum rivit-nuts, easy to drill out if a mistake is made. And also using appropiate stainless fine threaded screws. #6 is plenty strong. And you always have the future option of #8 if you have an enlarged hole. I inject a tiny drop of oil in the threads to hopefully avoid galling, which aluminum has a tendency to do. Finish off with appropriate sealant. I've put together a little kit with Olympic rivits, rivet nuts & screws, and the tools. I'm in more of a slow full upgrade-improvement process. In your case you are probably looking for a simple repair, a #10 stainless screw, snug, not tight, aluminum is very easy to strip, appropiate sealant, done!
