Thats ok Ricky thanks for the try,, I think I will just try and take it off without breaking the glass and get rid of it. and cut the other cable as I probably won't be using a CB...

If IIRC, they use an aquarium type glue or a silicone glue. I had one on a truck that I had originally had a hard mounted car phone mounted in back in the '90's. When I went to a hand held I took the mounting hard ware out, but left the antenna...it gave me a second place to mount Mickey Mouse antenna toppers! Anyway, one day it just fell off so I don't think you will have too much trouble getting it off. I don't think the Goo-Gone will do much good. Just try a putty knife and work slowly.

Connector

The connector appears to be a PL 259 connector, also known as a UHF connector. If it is aprox. 5/8" in inside diameter on the outer shell thats what it is.

If this is what it is the most likely possibilities is it is either a 2 meter antenna for ham radio or a CB antenna.

There is also a similiar connector with a shell diameter of about 3/8 inch. If this is it it is almost certainly a cell phone antenna. This connector was known as a mini uhf connector and was common on Motorola bag phones.

It is not a standard TV F connector as these use the center of the coax itself for the pin.

It might be possible to identify the antenna by markings on it if you want to use it. If not of course it does not matter

Generally - and just having seen this done - they slide a long bar against the glass and strike the glued on rear view mirrior mount. This sharp jolt will knock them off with one or two blows. May work for the antenna mount to. I claim no responsibility or liability for this technique....... gives me the chills when I see them do it......
