Hi there! Thank you in advance
I've found four 225/75-16 six lug trailer wheels and tires on craigslist for a price I can afford -- and they are in good condition. The tires on the AS now are 7.00-15 tire and 6 lug wheel. I looked the conversion up and the comparable is 225/75-15. Is there enough clearance for 16? are the six lugs matching/standard? How do I determine clearance? Is bounce a issue on a bumpy dirt road? Is the dual axil a issue?
Backstory: I have had my trailer "Emunah" parked at a neighbors garage for a couple years with plans to work on it. Our neighbor has loved our AS so much she bought her own. Now "Emunah" is parked on the street which isn't allowed in our county. I have done some clean up, but am on the crunch to get her moved 60 miles north to my raw land before snow (which is hot on our heals this year). The current wheels have some deep weather checking and need to be replaced. Budget wise the 16 inch wheels have been all I have run across locally. This mom has a kiddo and a baby in tow who doesn't travel well so I have to search locally. I am in the Coeur D'Alene area of North Idaho. I like being a optimist, but I don't want to be a reckless optimist
Any advice is appreciated to get me ready for a safe 60 mile haul - 1 of those miles is on a bumpy dirt road
- Only towed short distances on pavement in the past, but handled well.
