Has Anyone Else Noticed..Dents Beside Front Storage Compartment

I just noticed today the we have a dent on each side of our front storage compartment. We keep the camper at a storage facility so I was able to find two other AS's with the front storage and both have the same dents, but not as big as ours. Our camper is a 2021 27' GT, the other two I checked were not GT's and I'm not sure about the length, but both had the front storage. Have any of ya'll seen this before and what are your ideas of the cause. Thanks.

I have a bit of an update, I found a pic of our camper when it was new and still on the lot and it had the dents, so it wasn't us or towing that caused them. I am still curious as to why they are there.

Nitzo,

Long shot. Those are your battery compartments correct?

If battery compartments physically remove one of the batteries from the compartment. Now go inside and find the compartment. Look under it, is the compartment supported from underneath or is there a gap between the compartment and its support under it.

Question, does someone at the facility where you park position your trailer for parking or do you?

That is the beginning of front end separation. Search for that and you'll find plenty.

I park it................That last photo is of it in the dealers lot. It came from the factory like that it seems.

Gary, no, its just an empty storage compartment. It awkward to use, so I have almost nothing in it.

It did not come from the factory that way. It happened during the drive from the factory to your dealer by the transport company. Your dealer should have caught this. It does look like the beginning of frame separation which is not common but does happen on the front bedroom models. A trip to Jackson Center is in order to get it properly repaired. They done more than a few.

Go to your dealer first with photo evidence and go from there. Good luck.

YES

Poor design,(those doors, compartments whatever should be properly designed), accompanied by a poor delivery method, that could be made worse by an improper and overly stiff TV trailer lash-up.
Return it to the selling dealer and have it repaired ASAP!!!!! As in now

Well guys, not the news I wanted to hear, but needed to. This is why I love these forums, an issue like this could have easily been overlooked and down the road became a real problem, ya'll help a bunch.

As you know dealing with stealerships and factories is a real pain, but I'm not going to let it go. I just fired off the first e-mail to the dealer. We shall see.

Also, who is the inmate here that is the Airstream Rep.? I've seen some of his posts, but can't remember who he is. Thanks

Since reading Ray Eklund’s post and yours, I’ve inspected my 2020 GT 27 FBT and I have the same dents, exact same location.

I have an appointment with JC, so I’ll just add this to the list. Of course they’ll fix it, and probably do a really good job, but this coupled with the myriad other quality control issues is increasingly tiresome and frustrating.

See "International Front Separation" post above. Same problem in early development.

Maybe the mods can combine the two threads or get rid of mine. There is no reason to have two going about the same issue.

Just had mine repaired at JC. They gave me 3 options
1 remove entire front panel and install bracing
2 remove just compartment door leave dimple dent alone and install bracing
3 (not an option for me) tear into it from inside the trailer that way all new olympic rivet are not seen.

I went with #2 because my dimple/wrinkle cosmetically didn't bother me that much. I just wanted the structural bracing installed. Also I had to have two top corner segments replaced because the clear coating was peeling. I've been told Alcoa had a series of bad panels, poor coatings. As for the olympic rivet only I know where they are, JC did a good job. If any one else was to look at it they would have a hard time finding the panels they replaced. Time for option #1 is I'm told 2+ full days, option #2 a little less 2 days, either way I choose to leave mine for a week, that way they bring it in once and work on it till its done, no time loss making it ready to go back outside each night. I know not everyone is in the position to do that. There are several threads discussing and arguing about the cause, but some good info was exchange on a couple dealers out west that did professional repairs, search for those threads.

These pictures are not mine but some who shared their repair experience with me.
They helped me when the tech explained the 3 options and I could visualize what had to be done. Hope this helps.

I started reading about this in march and after washing the trailer I noticed a missing rivet on my front compartment and the dimples. (was traveling) Called JC beginning of april as my warranty would expire end of june the earliest they would take me was 3rd week august. 3 1/2 moths out???? I was told they would honor the warranty items which they did. In different conversations i've had they have at least one tech (probably more now) that's all they do is that repair, day in day out.
My trailer pictures attached.
