Gas shock for cabinet above Fridge?

Our 2014 25 Eddie Bauer doesn't have any support mechanism for the lift up cabinet above the fridge. Has anyone figured out what the right shock size and strength would be for that and where to place it? I am assuming that the newer units have something because it is a pain.

Thanks

I use piano bench hinges on both that cabinet and the bathroom mirror in our 2014 international 25ft FB.
Been working great for 7 years now no problem.

This is perfect and so helpful. Thanks a ton! I am going to do the exact same thing.

In our 27FB we added these gas springs to the above fridge cabinet door and to the bath mirror cabinet door to hold them up while open:

Above-Refer Cabinet Door Support

I searched for quite a while for this same solution.. I wanted a soft close support that would stay open until I closed it. I found a great product:

Sugatone NSDX-35RK

It works perfectly.
See attached details.

Anyone have a current link to order these hinges? It seems the links provided so far might be old as they say “sorry page not found.”

Thanks

That looks like a great solution.
Did one work or did you need two?

I know that these aren't quite as fancy as the other solutions shown, but I only needed one for each application as they lock in place.

I used one for over the refrigerator. You can order one for the right side or left. I used a right side support because I have a solar control panel inside the cabinet on the right, so that side already has restricted space.

If you search the manufacturer’s web page, you will see a few options on how to mount the support. I had to get a small part separate from the support.

I noted a previous person used their support on the bathroom cabinet also. My Tommy Bahama came with two large supports from the factory. You might want to search the parts catalog for the exact ones they used. Mine are way too large to also be used over the refrigerator.

Here is a link to the manufacturer web page:
www.sugatsune. I note the name in my original post was spellchecked, it should be Sugatsune.
