Fresh water tank fills when connected to city water

Just started having issue with 2018 25 ft Flying Cloud fresh water tank filling when I am connected to city water. Any suggestions to repair this and avoid a trip to the dealer?

There is a check valve that is incorporated in the water pump. Sometimes the valve will fail to close because a small object in the water. Run some water through the pump several times and that might clear it out. If that does not work, the pump may need to be replaced.

This is a very common problem.

Had same with our 2018. As stated above, turned off city water, ran on pump for a couple of days to pull down tank level. It's been fine ever since.

Happens occasionally. Just 'fixed' mine by running it dry with the pump.

An inexpensive fix if you don’t want to replace the pump is install an in-line check valve. Available @ any plumbing supply.

Check the pump inlet for a strainer. Sometimes on shiny new Airstreams a bit of shredded plastic from tank fittings installation gets into the water system. Clean the strainer thoroughly and be sure all the parts, including the gasket or O-ring are in the right place and tightened, otherwise you may have trouble getting the pump to prime.

Another tip: ALWAYS fill the water tank using an in-line filter with the hose. This helps keep grit and the like out of the tank. It does not take a very big foreign particle to make the pump leak backwards into the fresh tank while on city water.

As noted, disconnecting city water and running the pump on a full fresh water tank will usually clear the problem after a few pump on/off cycles. It's not an unusual problem...just irritating when your tank overflows water down the side of the trailer out of the tank fill door...
