Pulled never lube hubs today

Hubs and bearings looked great. I did not find any indication of water insulation into wheel bearings. Another thing off my list.

Drawer Repair

I had one drawer under the dinette on the curb side that had particle board bottom. Needless to say it fell apart. I stopped by a local kitchen cabinet maker and the had some quality 1/4 plywood scrap that the cut to fit for me. Best part is the said it was only scrap and it was no charge. . I put it together and have first coat of Polly drying.

Anybody know what this is?

Trying to figure what this is. I found it attached magnetically to side of kitchen vent fan. It says GE smart water.

That mounts magnetically on top of a GE whole house water filter bracket and will indicate when to change the filter.

Best Rivet Gun Ever

The under belly takes many 3/16” large head rivets. Hard to pull using small hand rivet gun. I bought this air riveter 20 years ago at an auction. Never used it in twenty years. Pulled it out and oiled it and used it to install underbelly rivets. Pull trigger and then snap rivet is installed. Very useful tool for big rivets.

Bob, You are definitely a 'get 'er done' Airstreamer, or very soon to be!

Your progression makes me feel guilty when I find an excuse to put off a maintenance project or improvement. Keep up the good work and hopefully we'll see you down the road.

Done but the cleanup

“Harvey” as named by previous owner is dry and back together. We now have some cleanup/wipe down and reinstall cushions and mattress. We are still 30 days away from our first trip (Crystal Springs Florida). Plenty of time to get Harvey loaded with all our camping wares. I appreciate all the suggestions from the site. I had originally made up my mind to not drop the under belly. I see now that would have been a big mistake as there was plenty of water above the foil floor insulation. Looking forward to meeting the original owners who I met thru this site. I was able to get the whole flood story including pictures.

Put Hensley arrow hitch on today.

Wrestled the hitch on today. Not sure if my drop is correct. It appears to slope down toward my hitch. Any suggestions from the veterans out there?

Congratulations on reaching this important milestone!

You might want to check in the Hitches etc. forum:

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f464/

. . . or maybe start a new thread there with Hensley Arrow [hot link in blue] in the subject line IMO. When parked on level ground, is the trailer floor level fore and aft? In the second photo in your next post, everything looks good IMO.

Good luck.

Hot water heater works no issues.

Nice day yesterday- I was able to get trailer out of barn and fill water tank, test pump and hot water heater. Both gas and electric work great no issues. Also tested all the awnings - no issues.

Test Drive

Camper is done and fully loaded for our trip to Florida. I have the Hensley hitch installed but had not tested it on the road. Hooked up last night and pulled it about 60 miles of a combination of roads and Expressway. It towed fabulously. I towed the 27FB airstream home from Atlanta Georgia with a 3/4 ton Diesel P/U and I felt every little wind, trailer, or semi truck that passed my trailer. Sometimes I felt like the trailer was being pulled into them. I have pulled several ultra-lights over the years with same 2004 GMC Sierra 3/4 diesel with out any anti sway hitches and never felt uncomfortable like I did pulling Airstream home. I upgraded to a 2019 GMC Sierra 3/4 ton Diesel last year and it in combination with the Hensley hitch makes it a dream driver. In fact - my wife will now drive with trailer in tow. Here in Michigan camping season is getting close - can’t wait to start our maiden voyage. Happy trails everyone.

Ready for first Road Trip to Florida

Trailer and truck all cleaned up and loaded for first road trip - Michigan to Florida. Two eight hour days of driving. Spending first night in Chattanooga TN. Final destination is Jenny Springs. Traveling with two other couples. We have all had our Covid shots and are really looking to stretch our legs.

Airstream Update

Thought I would provide an update on our airstream. After repairs we traveled to crystal springs Florida for 10 days in March. We took two weeks and went to Rocky Mountain National Park. We took one week trip to upper peninsula of Michigan (near Marquette - beautiful) and one week at hocking hills Ohio. Everything worked good with no issues except refrigerator will not work on gas. When you put it on gas I hear the sparker going but I do not think the solenoid is opening. I will troubleshoot more when I get AS inside. Trailer is all cleaned up and winterized (very important here in Michigan). We realized this summer we should have a good storage location due to potential for hail. I contracted with a local Amish company to build me a 40x50x13 pole barn with 3 12x12 over head doors. I was hoping it would be built in October but here it is December and not started yet. Good news is that material was delivered this week and build will start next week. I am hoping temps stay mild to allow concrete to get poured. For now AS sits in the driveway exposed to the winter elements. Sunny with high of 40 today. Highs near 50 tomorrow and Monday.
