Simple Human makes cool, well made stuff. Blomus is a little more $ and designy, extremely well made, I use their towel racks and hooks, salt and pepper grinders

Hi, being as picky as I am at times, I was still trying to have tight propane tanks and a good fitting propane tank cover. Well I got everything just about where I wanted it, but where the bottom of the propane tank cover meets the battery box, they would interfere with each other. I needed a stop of some kind that would hold the tank cover off of my battery box hinge. Like many of my mods, I have been thinking of a good way to solve this problem. I decided that I was going to use angle aluminum, cut to fit, rounded corners on top, and use the same rivet holes that were already in use to hold the battery box hinge in place; I didn't want or need to drill new holes for this project.

Thumbs up

Bob,

Same page, different problem...

Got S&T of the storage compartment door slamming shut when trying to get my tool box out. Super glued a small piece of velcro on the edge of the latch and another on the tank cover....also works for the stupid fridge access door.
Also some self stick foam weather strip on the edge of the opening helps keep the water out, drilled a hole in the center of the floor then smacked it with my big hand wacker, water drains, no more rust

The upright storage (euphemistically called a wardrobe) in our 28' International Serenity has a narrower entrance than its main area, making anything other than some custom made shelving impractical. Or so we thought. Enter IKEA!

IKEA sells a bookcase range called LEKMAN that has plastic boxes to act as drawers. Most surprisingly, the dimensions of said boxes were perfect for the "wardrobe" so off to IKEA we went. Two boxes at $20 each (plus tax) and some non-sliding stuff from Walmart and we have a nice little shelf area. OK, I had to assemble the boxes in the wardrobe and will probably have smash them up to remove them, but they do pretty well for now. We added a drawer divider that we already had to stop stuff falling out. We were VERY pleased with our own ingenuity. *grin*

Realized I added two small items to the side storage doors since that last post.... they keep something inevitable from happening, see 'em?

Robert Cross, those laniards and treaded surface make for a nice level work table. I like it!

But I don't understand the two new items ... Maybe the black pads at the top connection of the laniards? What is their purpose?

Yep 'doze the new additions....those cables have a nasty habit of cutting thru the door seal. Two inches of 1" wide 1/4" T self sticking weatherstrip wrapped around the cable at rivet all it took.

got tired of my things flying all over the place under the medicine cabinet

So I added some nice 'faux' green grass. The grass comes out so you can wash it and it's great for keeping things in place. I purchased the grass at my local craft store (Michael's to be exact).

cut to size and inserted:

finished:

Transfer Pump for Portable Water Containers

Here's a mod for easy water refill from portable containers. I bought a 200 gpm Marine Utility Pump from Harbor Freight, mounted it in the exterior refrigerator access compartment, and wired it with a toggle switch to 12v. Now I just drop the suction hose into a portable water container, flip the switch, and discharge into the water fill inlet. An inline water filter can be added to the hose. Coiled hoses remain attached and store nicely in compartment. About $40.

I LIKE that transfer pump idea. I'll proably like it more the next time I'm propping a muddy water tank on a wobbly knee just counting the seconds till all that water drains out...

My new, favorite mod was removing the 12V edison and 120V edison sockets from the main overhead lamp and replacing them with 2 12V LED MR16 bulbs from Home Depot at $20 each. I kept the 2 pole switch by the door (one was for the 12V bulb, the other for the 120V) so I can turn one, or both on.
they are advertised at 6 Watts each and equivant to a 20 Watt Halogen bulb. (side by side these LEDs appear to be brighter than the Halogens) Together they pull about 1 Amp, which is less than a quarter of the old 50W 12V Edison bulb and still leave the same light pattern on the lamp shade. For extra credit, I'm trying to keep everything looking close to origional.
They will leave a shadow on the floor in bright daylight, so I expect we will only running 1 when boondocking and turning on the second only when pulling slivers etc.
They do run hot. Not nearly as hot as a halogen, but hotter than I expected for an LED, so I'm still testing to see if I need to punch some vent holes in the light itself.

Sink strainers.

Hi, I was looking for sink strainers that wouldn't scratch my sinks. I found a plastic strainer with a soft vinyl trim on it for my house. I liked the one that I have in my house so I bought two more for my trailer. The old metal strainer is going into the trash.

Now that is a great mod! If you don't mind - think I'll incorporate!

I'm not a plumber, not even a D.I.Y. plumber, but could I put a "Y" connection on the "in" side of my existing pump to connect the "straw" end and then a "Y" on the "out" end of the pump (the "hose" side) - (w/a shut off valve) and then run that into the tank so I could dip the "straw" into a water jug and open the valve on the "hose" side and fill the tank? (sorry, that was a long sentence . . . i'm not a linguist either)
