Fantastic Vent

Got my fv 7350. When installing, did anyone use the gasket that came with the fan, or just butyl tape, or both?

Also, in the instructions, it refers to a clamp fan - what is that? The instructions are terrible and the company is not open until Monday.

Any help is appreciated.

I had a different model - I think 2250. I did not use the gasket - butyl tape along with Vulkem in the screw holes and along the outside of the flange. Someone had recommended using washers with the screws - this is helpful. I used #8 3/4 inch screws and it worked well. A couple did not seat well, so I went up to #10 on a couple.

I just bought a new FF. It did not come with a gasket. I used butyl tape under the frame and Dicor self leveling caulk on the frame edge and screw heads.

If your new fan came with screws to fit a countersink hole in the flange don't use them. Get some stainless steel pan head screws of the same size (#8 I think) and put a SS washer under each. This will spread the clamping force over a much greater area on the flange and this will help keep the flange from cracking at the screw holes. I tossed the gasket and used a thick bead of Vulkem. 7 years-no cracks,no leaks.
