We have a FF in the front and a plain vent (no fan) in the back (over the bed). First I considered replacing the plain vent with a FF, but then decided to first rewire the forward FF with a reverse switch and see how that worked for us. It solved our issues! We still have the plain vent in the back but can now easily control the airflow using the front FF now. We usually run it in the "out" mode, but there are times when the reverse mode is useful.

In our '99 Casita we had the FF w/rain sensor, temp, in/out .

On our maiden trip we left the vent wide open. While we were out and about a thunder storm moved in and dumped , The FF automatically closed

no water came in

Our 04 Casita had the FF w/ Temp, in/out. I did add a Maxx Air vent cover so we could open the vent and run the fan in the rain. If you don't have one get one.

Our 01 Casita has the FF w/ Temp , in/out. I added a MaxxAir vent cover.

On using the IN mode , It makes a great hair dryer after your shower

Our '69 Tradewind I changed out the stock vents to Maxx Air Automatic remote controlled power vents with the built in automatic cover w/ in/out, temp.

I find them quieter and have more speeds then the FF.

I shopped around and found them on Amazon for less then anywhere else I looked.

Does anyone out there have any experience using the Camco 40431 RV vent cover? Found a screaming deal on them but I know nothing about about them.

I have a couple of those on our 1987 Avion. They are easy to install: drill some holes in the existing vent frame, mount some brackets to the frame, then attach the Camco cover to those brackets. Piece o'cake. You'll still have the full function of the existing vent cover.

Maxx Fans have an integrated cover that is part if the fan. Doesn't stick up from the roof and look really ugly. They allow operation in the rain and have multi speed and in/out selector right out of the box.

Put 2on my '06 19 CCD and never used the A/C.

The only criticism that I can find so far about the Camco is that they don't allow the vent cover to go all the way up. Do the MaxxairII's allow full opening of the fantastic vent?

On the Maxiair web site FAQ section they claim the II does allow full opening of the Fantastic Fan. True or not I do not know.

Thanks. Anyone out there with the power lift fantastic fan and Maxxair that can verify? I know I could operate it manually, but I don't want to.

I have two FF's and although I thought it would be good to have the reverse, I have found that it isn't necessary at all. Just open both vents. Turn one fan on and leave the other off. You can feel the volume of air coming in at the vent that is off. No fan necessary.

Today I discovered something about my Fantastic Fan rain sensor. The fan must be running for the cover to close when rain is detected. Luckily I was around to close it up.

Mine will close in rain without the fan running. I always leave them open in with the fan off. Makes no difference.

I was leaning that way, but I called the Fantastic vent people and spoke to a great young lady who not only sent me the schematics of the reverse but sent me two switches as well no charge. They are great people to deal with.

There are different models, and I am not sure if they are all the same, but:

1) the living room one has the controls all on the fan. If you turn off the blades with the black rocker switch, THE WHOLE SYSTEM is off and the rain sensor will not close nor open the lid. George, The lid touches the Maxx air to keep wind rattles away, but it is all the way open as far as I can tell

I just added the MaxxairII covers on my fantastic fans. I don't believe the FF cover goes 100% open against the MA. I also frankly don't want to try it electronically because if I'm right, the motor will keep trying to push it open.

However, manually, it opens very wide and doesn't seem to restrict airflow. The great thing is rain wont close the lid when you want the fan function during rain - and - you can drive with the vents open - very good for hot days.

The power system stops against resistance, don't worry about it. The lid does stop against the Maxxair, so it's not 100%, like Steve says, but it's not discernible that it isn't fully open...like 98%? or 99%.
