Factory Work Info

I was wondering if anyone has had any dealings with the factory when it comes to repairs. I am thinking of taking my 1984 Sovereign to the factory for some work. Do you just make an appointment and drop it off? Do they do repairs rapidly? I would be coming from out of state and would want to stick around long enough to get the work done as long as it doesnt take weeks. I have e-mailed them but havent gotten a response yet. Any info would be appreciated.

To answer your concerns..
Normally, you'd be best advised to call ahead. Since this is the winter time, the "cheaper" rates are in effect and, they just might be booked up..You never really know until you call or show up.
I've had success in just showing up..As busy as they are, the guys at the service center always seem to be able to fit you in.
As for sticking around, there's a really nice campground on the factory's site that you can stay at (full hookup). They will bring your unit back out to the site each closing of the work day. You have to be up early and, ready for them to take it in each day to do the work.
If you've never been to Jackson Center, there's the factory tour, the town is small enough to walk around for a visit or, you can go out to the interstate head south to Wally's world...lol
The last time I was there, the charge was free (campsite) as long as you're having work done on your unit. I recalled this "free charge" extended to the day before and the day after of the work period. Otherwise, it was 10$ per night..(last years rate)
Good luck on your projects~
ciao

Thumbs up Alot~

You have to remember that this was spaced out over four years..And, not in the order that it was done.
  • I.Two new Fantastic Fans installed
    2.Four new wheels
    3.4 new shocks
    4.4 New brakes
5.If they had the wheels off, the bearing were repacked
    6.New stainless steel stone guards
    7.New rear taillights
8.New running lights all the way around.
9.New skin panel installed over rear window.
10.Auto on/off lights installed in pantry and closet.
    11.New univolter installed.
12 New toilet, w/new ring seal.
This list doesn't include all the work I've done.(Which is rather extensive.)Such as stripping/polishing the Airstream. Sanded and repainted the A frame. Dropped the belly's skin on the rear and, sanded/repainted the rear bumper storage area. Sanded/repainted the water heater. Worked on the water pump.
Sealed all the windows. Rebuilt the bathroom vent blower motor.
Replaced one of the inner springs assy for the bedroom awning.
Installed new weather strippings where needed.
The next planned project is to remove the carpet and, install natural cork flooring thruout plus, replace the seal on front door and bathroom sewer vent pipe.
lol, I must have left something out but..I'm sure you get the picture. Just your typical things...

What kind of repairs are you in need of??

ciao

I would like to have several leaks repaired (including one on a front window that I just cant seem to fix). I also need to have the cabinet over the stove repaired. The bottom has dry rot from years of the stove vent leaking. I would like to have them look it over good for other leaks and check the shocks, axles, etc. I also need a new fresh water tank. I have other issues I will check into depending on the expense of the above work.

Newae,

Having just come from Jackson Center, I can say first hand that everyone there is running all around with tons to do and not a lot of hours to do it.....I'm sure they will contact you soon. Have you followed up that email with a call to either of the phone numbers for Rick or Chris?

One other thing that I'd like to share is that the work done by the service department there is really top notch...just ask jodynjeep!

Eric

PS- jpairstream posted alternate email addresses for both folk in the service department than the tech one.....

I just watched what they did while I was there, but Jody tore up his outer curbside skin from the front to the back on his brand new 2004 Safari SS.

When done, you could not tell the unit was anywhere near dust it was so perfect!

Ouch, I bet that hurt the wallet. Are their prices outrageous compared to dealers and such ?

You can see a bit of the work they did here:

http://wbcb.com/PhotoGroup/Airstream...3/default.aspx

Jody as well as all who read and viewed the photos and heard the story were in total awe and gave big kudos to Airstream for the type of serivce they gave to Jody...it was very impressive!

Not sure what it cost...sorry!

Nice work. (looking at the pics) Do you know if they do any kind of modifications. I am thinking of having some interior work done as well as repairs. I wouldnt mind changing my rear bedroom full bed into a pair of twins.
