Exterior Trim Corrosion from Road Chemicals

I noted a deterioration of the surface of the trim attached near the bottom of the rock shields as they bend around the corners on our 2015 Flying Cloud. Looks like cellophane peeling from the "plastic chrome". Possibly caused by chemicals on the highway. Have you experienced this problem? Noticeable only on the curved portion of the "plastic chrome" trim.

Happens all the time. Rub rail trim peels and is not very good stuff.
