Exterior Lighting Mystery

My wife and I recently bought a '67 Caravel in N Tx. Before driving home we replaced tires, took it to a RV service place and they got the Brake lights, interior lights and clearance lights working, plus we installed a wireless Tekonsha brake controller. All brake lights, turn lights worked great but we never checked out the clearance lighting since we drove home in the day. Now we find out we have to have it inspected since title was out of state and we cannot get the clearance lights to work or the brake lights to light up when we turn our headlites on, but braking lights work. Does anyone know where we start looking for the problem. I talked to the RV place and he assured me the clearance lights were working at the shop and I believe him. There is a fuse box by the battery which appear good. Are there more fuses for the lights?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

My guess would be there's a short in your 7-pin connection either at the tow vehicle, trailer or cord that connects them. If you have a voltage meter you should start testing the connections there.

Good luck!

Check tow vehicle fuses

I had the same thing happen. Had to drive one night with my emergency flashers on. Checked my fuse diagram for my 2012 Tundra after an electrical system service and they had put the trailer light fuse in the wrong slot. Moved it and all worked fine.

I smell a ground fault. Also, I believe, wire colors were not the same as what is now standard usage. I had a lot of fun sorting out my '73 Argosy.
