Exterior Insert molding replacement cost

The insert molding on my 2016 25 FC started to come off peeling back half the length of my trailer. Rather than have it continue to flap I pulled it off. The dealer wants to charge 280 a linear foot to replace it.
What is a good price?

Thanks,
Matti

That’s a fair price. The cost for the stuff at Out of Doors Mart is 2.89/foot for the 1” stuff and 2.09/foot for the 1/2” stuff.

On our Classic...

Where the plastic extrusion had come off the metal channel, I re-attached with 3m 5200, covering/tightening all the screws at the same time.

Where the 'plastic' chrome had peeled I removed it all and replaced with 1" & 1/2" 3m relflective vinyl, 9005 Blue.

His quote of $280.00 a linear foot must be wrong then or my wife heard it wrong. Finally came up for air at work finally and realised that is $16,000.

I think we were all assuming you meant $2.80 ft. You can by Gorrila brand weatherproof double stick tape and stick it back on.--Frank

I really like the look of that tape in the picture, but the link takes me to a site where the reflective vinyl is Avery, is 14" tall, and is $7 a foot.

GMFL is correct. I purchased both sizes and replaced it myself. Great stuff, sticks very well (If you clean the surface really good) and surely looks good. I always buy my AS stuff from Out of Doors Mart.

I've not measured yet, the trailer is at the dealership.

What I have is a 25ft 2016 flying cloud rear bedroom. It pulled loose from the door and went from there. It was a long section, cars behind me were having fun with it until at a stop I saw what happened and pulled the rest off.

14" TALL? DIAMETER ?

This is the 1" wide 150' long I used for the lower molding, 1/2" wide for the upper.

Call 'em.

We replaced the top chromed insert with the Airstream product for about that much, but then realized it’s only auto side molding, so I found Cowles brand chrome molding at O’Reillys auto part store 1” in 12 foot lengths for $15.99 fits and looks perfect for the bottom section and only $65

Recently replaced vinyl trim and blue striping

I replaced the dingy blue vinyl trim with a warm black trim and the ragged blue striping with a green variant.

The trim came from Vintage Trailer Supply:

Blue Vinyl Insert Trim Molding 5/16" Exposed (50' Pkg)] x2 $99.00 total
VTS-1001 Blue Vinyl Insert Trim Molding 1" Exposed (50' Pkg)] x1 $64.50 total

The striping came from Stripeman.com and totaled $229:

1/4" x 150' Single Line Single Color Vinyl Auto Stripe Tape Roll SE025
2" Wide Single Line Single Color Vinyl Stripe Roll SE205-A9675-1
3" Wide Single Line Single Color Vinyl Stripe Roll SE305

It really changes the look of an antique 1989 Excella. I did all work outside on days warmer than 60 degrees. Anybody can do this.

He probably said "two eighty a foot" and figured you were smart enough to figure "two dollars and eighty cents per linear foot." However a shop would probably charge around $280 to replace the entire moulding circle on your trailer.
