door latch collapse

Returning from camping went to open the 2016 Bambi, and the whole latch came out from the door. Opened eventually with a screw driver on a tab inside the frame. Do I buy knew if possible or try to put all the screws back in hopefully in the right place? appreciate any advise.

Welcome to the Forums!

If you have all the parts and the screws, and you can't see that there is damage to the threads, then try screwing it back together. I can't imagine it being very complicated. You might also buy some "thread locking" compound and put a drop on each screw so that they don't rattle loose and back out in the future.

If you have stripped threads in the casting, then you are probably going to have to buy a new assembly.

good luck!

Great advice, if nothing's broken bent or stripped out, loctite or super glue (in an emergency) is your friend!

Do use the non-permanent Blue Locktite compound.

Iíd stay away from super glue as well. Itís too permanent.

The permanent red stuff is not a good idea if the lock ever needs repairs in the future. Itís really, really permanent!

Note that using more locking goop IS NOT better in this case. A small drop on the screw threads before you insert it and tighten gently will do it nicely.
