Dometic fridge hinge issues!

So the plastic hinge portion on the refrigerator door snapped off yesterday and I'm in desperate need of a good fix. The only one Dometic has offered involves me paying nearly $300 for a new door. I've posted pictures of the problem at hand. Any and all suggestions welcome. We are living and working fulltime in our Airstream so I really need this fixed soon 😒

Same thing happened to mine. I got a piece of 1/8 inch stainless steel one inch wide by the width of the door. I drilled and countersunk two holes that lined up with the two screws that were in the bottom of the door. Then I drilled a hole in the bar that lined up with the hinge pin.
It has been fine for over six years.

Do you have photos of your fabricated door part? I have a similar problem with the top door hinge, and I'm having trouble visualizing your modifications.

Good morning Phoenix. Unfortunately our lower hinge piece was too busted to do the JB weld hack. We ended up purchasing a new door from Amazon prime of all places for $218

Just remember that the door you purchase is just the frame. We had to transfer the front metal plate, the handle, and the top and bottom border pieces.

Also, there are no instructions on how to replace the door. We fiddled around for 2 hours with whiny babies in the background before we figured out that you have to remove the doors starting from the freezer. So take of the freezer door then the old fridge door then install new fridge door and put the freezer door back on last.

My overall experience is that I'm not very impressed with Dometic customer service. Thank God for the Airforums!
