Dometic Fridge?

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me about how a Dometic fridge works?

I have one out of my rig and want to see it is working. I plugged in the AC cord and nothing happens on the control panel. Does it require 12VDC for the AC side to work?

I'm guessing all the AC does is replace what the propane does when running on gas and that the fridge must have 12VDC at all times.

Thanks,
Pete

Yes the controls of the frig are 12 volts. Supply the unit with 12 volts and you should be able to test things out. Just make sure the frig it upright as this is important to the return of the refrigerant within the system.

If it is the original fridge, you don't need 12V. If it is a replacement fridge, then you probably need 12V.

To the OP.
How do you know? Nothing happens.
An ammonia refer does not make any noise. Like the refer in your house.
It takes several hours for the refer to cool down.
The boiler on the back of the refer. Should get warm when you have it plugged in. The control set to electric mode and the thermostat set to at least 5 on a scale of 1 to 7.
Do you know the model number of the refer?
As stated. If it is original, it does not need 12 volts.
If you could post pics of the controls and the back side of the refer. It would help.
