Correct caulk for fixing the main door

Hey guys. I have a sprung door on my 76 Overlander. I opened it up to bend it back to shape and I'm retrofitting a new handle. The previous owner had a beat up piece of aluminum and a door knob over it. I've since purchased a KT lock repair kit through Out Of Doors Mart, and made a new piece of aluminum to cover the previous hole.

I want to seal the new plate to the door before using pop rivets to secure it. My local Home Depot had Vulkem 116 tubes.

My question: Is Vulkem 116 a reasonable caulk to use for sealing aluminum to aluminum for external applications, such as the one I describe above?

I use a product that bus manufacturers use, and recomended by industrial adhesive suppliers. It is Bostik Simson ISR 70-03, which is both and adhesive and caulking. Available in both grey and white. I have used for several years on various trailers with excellent results.
