Co2 Sensor

2008 International 25 FB. Owned it a week now- preparing for first long weekend.

Put new AA's in the Co2 sensor and it beeped. Thought, "Okay- it is working, cool!" Then it beeped again. And again- every 20 seconds or so. Maybe 30 seconds? Well, about as long as it took to be convinced that it was not going to do it again and walk away- then again.

Haven't got propane in the tanks yet or fired up anything other than a generator to power A/C and lights.

Thoughts. suggestions (in laymans terms, please?).

Thank you in advance!

One beep every 20 or 30 seconds sounds like a fault code.

Most likely cause is that the CO detector is just too old. If it's the original one, it's seven or eight years old (depending on whether your 2008 Airstream was built in 2007 or 2008), and the sensor in every detector goes bad over time. The usual replacement interval is about every five years.

Yep, mine was doing the same thing (in the trailer) it is only good for about 6 years. Replace it.

Ha, you're right.

I put new batteries in yesterday.

Where can I get a replacement and at the best price? is it an Airstream only part or interchangeable with other types?

Thank y'all, for the insight.

Andy

Ours went after two years; we tried new batteries but to no avail. We couldn't find the same brand that Airstream installed and had a hard time finding a CO detector that would fit over the old screw holes in the bulkhead as the new ones we found were all rectangular in shape and not circular like the original. We finally found one at either Home Depot or Lowes however it's a combination CO/smoke detector and quite pricey. We bought it anyway as it covered the old screw holes. It has a permanent battery installed which is supposed to be good for 10 years.
