If your closet is similar to the 27FB, then the back of the closet floor is supported only by the overhanging trim covering the utility inlet area.

I preemptively fixed my floor before it fell in by adding a leg that supports the center section of the floor near the back.

I had taken the closet apart (which is a real PITA because of all the pocket screws) to add a hard wired surge protector so I took the opportunity to fix it at that time. Good luck!

What a classic "latent design defect" Airstream has foisted upon both of you, and other owners of similar units!

An entirely shoddy construction detail, which could be reasonably foreseen to fail at some point. Burying such a defect so deeply, that the eventual failure would likely take more than 2 years to unfold, does not absolve a manufacturer of liability.

Lucky for Airstream that no one was injured by putting their full weight on that floor, only to have the flimsy support system fail catastrophically!

AS should cover this work under warranty IMO, even after the standard warranty period.

Exact same thing happened to our 30 International, 2017 year model.

I cobbled up some reinforcements as I discovered it right before a trip.

If this is a warranty item, it would be nice to know as it is at dealer now.....

Call the dealer and demand a warranty repair. You might direct them to this thread, and Airstream's reply in Post #4.

Good luck!

closet floor fell

Same thing happened to me on my 2017 30’ (same floor plan, same closet). Same thing.

We ended up re-constructing the interior of the closet and replacing the balsa wood floor, substantially reinforced everything, and turned into a pantry to include 120v power and an ice maker.

Bombproof now.

Who in their right mind would ever expect to stand on the closet floor and have it hold them? Who could even fit into the closet to stand on the floor? I want whatever your smokin'.

Our 2019 23CB closet floor failed as well. The floor is pocket screwed in one side and the other side only has 2 screws at the front holding the floor. The entire back and most of the side is dangling. Airstream did cover our closet floor under warranty. They added a L shape aluminum bracket along both sides front to back and we are happy with the results.
