Chrome lower Body molding

Our 2011 Flying Cloud has a plastic insert type chrome foil coated molding and the chrome is peeling off. I found a site that sells 100 feet for $210. That is too much to spend on the 10 feet I need.

I am hoping someone might have some leftover or have a better source for this product.

Other than this cosmetic the exterior is perfect.

Chrome lower Body molding

What site did you find?

All of mine (2007) is falling apart as you described. The stuff does not stand up well in our bright desert sun.

I have a partial roll left over. If anyone is interested I can measure what is left. It is the 1" variety.

My chrome foil is peeling off as well. This product appears to replace the entire piece of trim. Is that correct? How big a deal is it to remove the old trim?

Thanks!

I just replaced the lower (one inch) trim on our 2014 23D... I used smooth black instead of the "chrome" stuff. We love the look, and will love it even more when we replace the upper, belt line trim with black also.

Our original trim had to be replaced not because the chrome-looking surface failed, but because it started falling off! When I removed the original stuff I was amazed how poorly it had adhered to the trailer... I pulled it off without leaving behind a trace of adhesive... It just wasn't stuck worth a ****.

Chrome trim

My 2013 Sport 22FB did the same thing. Clean the trailer behind the trim and the back of the trim with some Acitone, then apply some exterior double side tape. That fixed mine

Trim is in seamless sections, broken up by door, wheel wells. Old trim will peel off with little effort once you get it started. I used a plastic chisel to keep it moving. Clean up the old tape residue with mineral spirits, scouring pad. Cut the new molding with PVC pipe cutter from Harbour Freight. Used a rubber roller to press new molding into place. Only pain in a** area was behind the battery box, had a piece of wood trim that fit for cleaning, pressing into channel.

Hi Wayne...

Yes, my new black trim is 1-inch wide. The manufacturer is Trim-Gard (a Canadian comany). The product I used is their part number 8002S.

Trim-Gard does not sell direct, but their guy in Sales will happily tell you who your local dealer is (I talked to "Paul").

As for colors, I'm not sure, but Paul could tell you.

Their website is: http://trim-gard.com. ... Give them a call.

Robert
