C&G closed - What now?

Good morning,

I learned recently that the owners of C&G Trailer Service retired and C&G is closed. Where are SoCal folks going now for service and repairs?

Thanks,
David

Oh wow! I used to go there for my maintenance needs.
I know Rod and Darlene were getting up in age and I think no one in the family wanted to take over the business.

Hi, I used to live about five miles from C&G Trailer Service. Rod and Darlene were great people. They worked on my trailer a few times when needed. They will be missed.

It’s unfortunate for sure to have a reputable repair facility close that’s closes however Vinnies Repair in Wilton is top shelf for sure but I understand it’s about 6 hrs away from C&G not as close but reputable and trustworthy

Hi, Vinnie's is great too, but that six hours would be by airplane.

Sorry to hear they are no longer in business, they were always my go-to.
Wonder what happened to all the cool old signage and parts inventory they had in the shop?

C&g

In Ventura County we are going to J& K in Camarillo for mechanical work, not body work.

C&G Closed

What did Rod do with all his stock? He had some nice old trailers in there. Also a lot of materials.

I live in Santa Clarita but work in Ventura... what do J & K do in repairs? fridge, brakes or what? If they are good I may go there for services.

I saw in one of the posts on this thread that someone was not happy with Inland RV. I’d like to know more specifics.

Rod took a lot of money from us for poor and sloppy workmanship. The new (3 years ago) fantastic fans leak at the perimeter. He did not do a walk through when we picked up our rig and we got it back to San Diego and found all the scrap and trash from installation on the floor and countertops. He installed a fresh water tank but did not recommend a new pump which we then had to replace ourselves (hard to find PEX parts even at FREEWAY TRAILER in Escondido). I had bought enough commercial grade vinyl flooring 12 years ago to go stem to stern in one piece ($3000) so that Rid did not need to do any cuts around the interior bulkheads or any seams; 12 years later the floor looks terrible, peeling around interior cuts and a big “fix” in the middle also a seam down the middle; I paid to have all the interior removed and they took shortcuts (no worries we are now manufacturing our own new bulkheads from ultralight MDF, painting and sponge-painting to match vinyl sides, and will do the plank-style vinyl under the bulkheads). What Rod DID NOT do is tell us that we could easily bolt the needed new axels ourselves. I asked several times for references for a custom fiberglass shower and he just shrugged his shoulders and said the new A/S showers would not fit my ‘85, because of the radius changes. Duh.

I am still wondering what he did with his stock... especially the PEX tubing and parts. Did he sell his old classic rigs to be put on containers to Europe? I would not be surprised. He did not have a mid-westerner’s approach to business. And I’m a native Californian raised by a Missourian, so I expect complete transparency as well as respect as a fellow CA native.

Drjudy, Inland RV in Corona is not a shop for service but a good source for Airstream Parts.

The business was formerly owned by Andy Rogozinski who sold it in the last couple of years.

We have physically been to the shop several times and purchased parts. We have also ordered online and on the phone. We have had many successful purchases and a couple of parts that were wrong or wrong size and we were able to return or exchange them.

The business is now owned by Michelle Trujillo who used to work at Inland. The business is getting good reviews again and they are moving into another structure in the same neighborhood soon.

We have also used Uwe Salwender's Area 63 Productions for work and then been very pleased.

Uwe is still out there. He's also here on AF.

The shop near Rancho Cucamonga closed as the owner sold the land but he's still in business.
