Best person to buy replacement axles for vintage airstream

Who is the best person to consult with (and purchase) new axles from? We have a 64' and I'm thinking I'd like to do this upgrade.

Ditto, Colin Hyde. He knows his stuff and can fix you up with correctly spected axles with the shock mounts also properly attached in the correct configuration.

He's top shelf in the business. Located where I 84 crosses the Hudson River he's only a few miles from there. Great person and did a fine job on our repairs. His name is George Hernandez.

Where are you located? I bought new axles for my 1969 Sovereign from P & S Trailer Service, Helena, Ohio (www.pandstrailerservice.com). They did a great job and the trailer tows perfectly. They have done other work for me and I am very satisfied with their work.

And, Colin Hyde for us also. Replaced original Henschen axles last year for our '73 Sovereign and have been very pleased. For us, Airstream sits about 2" higher so plan on adjustments to WD setup.

Call Andy at Inland RV. He says he can supply any vintage A/S with Dexter axles made to fit. If you do go with Inland, post again and let the rest of us know how it went.

The poster is from New Jersey

So we gave him the best local supplier/installer. Inland would be a 120 hour round trip.

Andy at Inland RV was helpful and great support for our 72 Overlander. Even had a sale and saved $1000 over what I had planned to spend. All bolted right in with over size brakes,,

Got mine from Andy at Inland. They were incredibly helpful. Only thing with mine was I had to drill a hole in the frame, and weld my own shock mounts on the axle. No big deal if you're handy... Don't know if that's still the case today or not. This was over a year ago. My total experience with Inland was excellent. I also read a lot of good stuff on here about Colin Hyde. I don't think you'd go wrong either way.

If you do go with Inland, and you have to weld on your shock brackets, I documented the process fairly well with pictures and all in my rebuild thread...

-Red, glad he's past it...

I got mine from Andy at Inland RV. I bought the Dexter axle made to fit, the electric brake assemblies, his wheel balancer discs, and shocks . Then I had everything installed by Rod at C & G trailer in Bellflower, CA.
The trailer tows smoothly and now my many rivets are staying nice and tight and tires are wearing smoothly.

I am guessing people only read the last post.

I think Andy at Inland is the greatest. But it's not so economically feasible for someone from the New York area to drive to California to have work done. I wonder what shipping would be if you are doing the work yourself
