Bed gas lift support pulled away from the plywood

Has anyone had issues with the gas lifts for the bed? On one side the screws have pulled away from the plywood. We have a 2017 25' FB
I tried adding an additional support block as well as larger screws but that also pulled away one month later.

Thanks,
Andy

I had the same problem and drilled holes and replaced the wood screws with bolts with nuts and that seems to have solved the problem.

Welcome Aboard!! 👍

I would and have...

Use Marine Tex / MT and toothpicks. Put some of the Marine Tex in the hole, coat the thin end of the toothpicks, insert as many as possible into the hole and rescure. You could also use the 3m 5200 to secure your reinforcement block to the frame. Apply to the face and frame and reattach.

I have used the MT many times to repair stripped wood screws on the AS, along with 5200 to bond and caulk leaks. Excellent results👍

Addendum...it just occurred to me.
JC has started to use balsa cored plywood.
Which doesn't lend itself to being screwed...nice choice.
Thru attachment with backing may be needed.

I recommend DIY, you will do a much better job. 😂
After all JC screwed it up in the first place. 👎

Just a thought. Did you check to see if the strut seized up causing the screws to pull out? I had to change change ours - 2014 FC. this might be the issue.

I haven't had the problem, but this is the common sense solution. Why reinvent the wheel when you can thru bolt the strut easily? Even use a fender washer on top. I doubt you'll feel that under the mattress.
T-nut, even better!

As @GMFL stated, use T-nuts

Your plywood will rot away before they get pulled out
for thicker wood there is a threaded option.

in the AS case, use the same type as posted above
