Bath vent removal

Hello all.

I'm attempting to replace the round bath - (push to open) vent on my 1996 21' Sovereign. It's been a bear - the bear thus far is prevailing. Following A/S manual has gone smoothly enough thus far. Problem is their is a lot of caulk on the inside skin that seemingly will not allow vent to be removed thru outer layer (exterior) of aluminum skin; it appears the caulk was used in order to give a bed to the screws as rivets were not used. Access to interior side of outer skin is limited thru the interior skin where vent screen/trim was removed. Grateful for suggestions or experience.

It's not caulk. Most likely it butyl. I just did mine 2 days ago. Make sure all screws are removed from the top then work around the vent prying it away from the roof skin.
