Atwood Propane Alarm Chirp

We have a 2018 30’ Flying Cloud, modified with lithium batteries and the ability to totally disconnect all power for winter storage. When there is no power connected, the Atwood Propane Alarm has no lights showing, but it chirps about every 40 seconds. When we turn the power on, the LED light turns red and flashes. When we then push the test button, nothing happens. After power was on about 5 to 10 minutes, the LED light went to green and the test button worked normally. And it just continued to chirp.

We are leaving on a trip in 5 days and can’t bear to listen to chirping for three weeks. Any ideas on what is going on??

Thanks,

Hi

Did you air out the trailer? If that's not the issue, sounds like it is time for a new one.

It may be a case of low voltage. Have you checked the voltage?
Look up "chirping" of your detector on the net.

Yes we did actually solve it, after multiple 10 mile trips to the storage place, two trips to the RV repair center (w/o trailer), and a lot of final embarrassment. We were ready to replace the thing and when my husband got down on the floor to read the model number, he realized the chirp was NOT coming from the propane detector. It was actually coming from a smoke detector that needed a 9 volt battery! In our defense, those stupid chirps are surprisingly difficult to locate. The chirp should have been our first clue.

Now we are trying to diagnose a 7 pin connector problem. Left brake light and turn signal out. He will clean the thing and we’ll hope that solves that one.

As Gilda said - it’s always something....

Totally understand about the location of the chirp.
Have someone watch the troublesome light while you insert the U Cord plug into the TV receptacle. Wiggle the plug around as it is plugged in.
It is probably a bad at the plug/receptacle location.
Just a guess on my part.

Speaking of propane detectors, in my previous MH, I decided to clean the floor tiles where glue from the adjoining rug left some goop. I used a solvent like Goof-Off and my propane detector went nuts. It continued to go nuts for a long time. Seems the propane detectors are sensitive to other things than just propane.
