Atwood Furnace Bug Screen

I have a 2016 FC with the Atwood furnace. I have not been able to find the wasp/bug screen to fit this anywhere. Also could use one on the water heater vent door. Anyone know where to find these?

Thanks!

Dave

Try calling Colonial Airstream parts department. When we bought our 2014 FC from them, I asked their parts staff what is a recommended accessory for a newbie with a new trailer - and they suggested the wasp/bug screens. Which we bought.

I ordered mine from Camping World online. I've also found these on Amazon. Just make sure you know the configuration of your furnace as there are two or three different screens for the various models of furnace.

I see from other posts the question has been answered....What I don't understand is why doesn't Airstream put these on new trailers automatically? I can halfway understand why my vintage trailer didn't have one but there is no excuse for the trailer manufacturer not to put these on every trailer that goes out their door.

Atwood does not recommend them. They say they may reduce air flow. But I have them and have had no problems.

In Canada they are getting hard to find; as some 'dimwit' at C.S.A. (Canadian Standards Associated. ) has a slagged them for 'restricting airflow' and causing poor combustion.
Just by looking at the screens one can see that 'that' is so much 'Hooey'!
I have them on my Cloud (s), and previous Hi'Lo, and no problems at all.

Another case of a 'no nothing' throwing his weight around ' to no good purpose.

I thought these screens were off-the-shelf items at any RV dealer or even Walmart.

^^^^ Corporate policy is always a "non-answer" = Standard Operating Procedure.

Many car manufacturers don't recommend tire chains either.

Go figure.

A stupid question.
I don't have one, I never had a wasp or a bug either come in through there that couldn't come in through the door. So why would I need one ?

The purpose of the screens is to keep dirt daubers or yellow jackets or red wasps from building nests in your furnace or water heater exhaust and preventing them from working properly.

Thanks guys! Great video. Looks like you have me covered for the water heater screen. Could not read the model number however from the video.

My 2016 furnace is different from your 2015, though similar. The exhaust vent is centered in the shiny part and no louvers above as in yours. The dealer recommended these screens and we have dirt daubers here in NW Georgia. Dealer in FL did not have them in stock so went to Camping World and they said the did not have them for the 2016 Atwood.

Frankly Frank, sorry to be so stupid. I have read some of your comments before and please don't feel like you need to answer any of my ignorant questions in the future.

Thanks to everyone else. Much appreciated!

Atwood Furnace Bug Screen

The wasps are attracted to the smell of propane. Happens mainly in storage. It's a common problem in Ca.

They build nests inside the appliance that makes them to malfunction or burn improperly

It's not about keeping wasps and dirt daubers out of the trailer.
It's about keeping them out of your water heater and furnace.

I also need to get the heater vent screen from Amazon. But, here's what I did for the water heater and two fridge doors. I bought a small roll of metal screening from the local hardware store, cut to fit each door, and glued to the inside of each door with clear silicone.

The part that is south of Chicago.
I had wasps build a nest in the anchor well of my boat and the shed but never any problems with the AS.
Part of the year we are in FL and part in IL. in between bumming around out west.
