Alde system not working

Have a 2022 Classic 30 we have been in for three months. We have just arrived in Maine and now the Alde heating system doesn't work.
There doesn't appear to be any glycol in the reservoir It worked well last nite.
I seem to recall that it takes a special type of anti-freeze?
The pump also doesn't seem to be working Does it shut off when no glycol is present?
Thanks for any help. Am new at this.

Hi, you may want to post in the classic section. It’s the only model with the Alde system.

If you’re low on fluid, you will want to get it topped off immediately. Unfortunately the fluid is expensive at close to $50 a gallon. If you lost all of your fluid then you will need a lot of fluid BUT you’re gonna wanna find your leak first.

There are (i think) 9 or 11 air bleeders around the entire rig. You can open one of those to see if fluid comes out. That would mean you still have liquid in the line.

It’s a closed loop, so if you’re lost on liquid then the system is open somewhere like a failed check valve on the unit or a rubber connector failed somewhere.

If you have fluid in the system and it’s still not working then the issue is something and we can help trouble shoot from there

If temps are above 40, you’ll be able to use your heat pump. Let us know what you find out.

Does the overheat red failure indicate you are low on glycol? We have not experienced any issues with our system until yesterday when both the CZone and the Alde panels were rebooting repeatedly on their own while we were on the road. Now on shore power, the CZone system is working again without any issues. It stopped blinking when it when on shore power. But the Alde was flashing a overheat failure. It had given us a low power warning as well on the road.

We did check the reservoir and if there is any in there, I can’t see it. Does it have a color? Is there any reason but a leak to have none? We last had it replaced in 2020 when it was recalled.

Your reservoir should be filled to the low mark while cold. When it’s hot it expands to fill the tank. Another place you can look is behind your cough. There is a blender valve there at the end of a long tube. You should be able to see fluid there as well.

When was the last time you ran the Alde? The red overheat seems to be triggered by air pockets. It is possible that the system wasn’t properly bled and you haven’t lost any fluid but instead, the air shifts in the system when you are moving.

Are you familiar with the blessing process? It’s fairly simple but takes time. Something you can do is tilt the nose of the airstream down and turn the circulation pump on. That should force any air to the rear of the trailer but you can check behind the couch to see if you have fluid in the system. I’m hoping that there is just a bunch of air and you’ll need a gallon to top off. If your system has zero fluid then it’s gonna require 5 gallons I believe.
