CRAP

Got up late this morning, rushed to shower and head out the door. Stopped for one more brief swig of coffee and suddenly... The AIR CONDITIONER Baptized me with about a cup of freezing cold water.

After (A) squalking like a wet chicken (B) saying a few rude words and (C) trying to dry my head and blouse, I went outside to the curbside and noted that there was no dampness from the A/C drain.

I'm sure it's plugged either with mold/algae which thrives in coastal VA, or the ubiquitous mud daubers. I had to run to work, so I turned the A/C off and left, but I didn't actually locate the exact placement of the drain hose.... Is it IN the wheel well or just ahead of it next to the drain valves?. I'm taking a wet/dry vacuum home with me to give the piece of tubing a quick suck out. Anything else I should do?

I get "sprinkled" or "anointed" from time to time with cold air conditioner water-
I don't know whether it is at the front of the wheel well or at the rear of the wheel well if you have one air conditioner.
With 2 a/c's, there is a drain at the very front of the wheel well and at the very rear of the wheel well on the curb side.
Even when draining properly I occasionally get a few drops of water on my head or in the middle of the kitchen floor. I think maybe this is due to nearly 100% humidity every day.

Blast the drain with compressed air?
It is easy to find/spot/see. It is clear plastic tubing and it extends below the bottom of the trailer.

too high a pressure can separate the hose from the pan so be careful. it also may just float back into the hose after a bit. there is a post somewhere about killing the algae in the pan.

The drain hose is just inside the streetside front of the wheelwell. It usually is placed so that it will either barely miss the edge of that tire, or drip onto the edge of that tire when it drains.

Might try a shop vac.. see if you can draw out the offending blockage... you could do it from outside and minimize interior mess.

Yep, that was my thought. Not a tight seal, just lots of negative air pressure to go "thork" on whatever little crud piece is blocking the flow.

Got home after dark, will hit it in the morning. Bucket awaits overflow inside but it's fairly cool. Will try to rough it without A/C tonight.

About 2 months ago started getting ooccasional small rain showers from our ac but only when humidity really went up and only after ac running for several hours. Found the plastic pan was cracked. Why it didn't leak all the time, don't know. Replaced pan fixed it.

I don't know if this is a good idea or a horrible idea; have not tried it myself. But electricians and data cablers use a "fish" line to route cables in walls. I think they might be small enough to fit in the tube from the wheel well and fish up to the pan to loosen any obstruction - kind of like a long straightened out clothes hanger.

i've use steel cable like the kind used for garage doors. (think like the cables that hold the compartment storage doors) and i use it to pull towels through my water hose to clean it.

It blows - or sucks. Tried the wet/dry vac with limited success. Had a can of "pressurized air" which I shot up the tube, then got a stream of water that abated after about 2 minutes.

A small amount of crud apparently plopped out of the top of the pan and hit the cover where the wet/dry vac very handily sucked it out. Should be all good now.
