Airestream warranty does not cover AC?

Did you know...

the Airstream warranty does not cover appliances. Those are covered under their respective manufacturer's warranties.

And even though you can pay $250 to have the Airstream warranty transferred to a new owner, the manufacturer's warranty does not transfer.

I just found this out.

Yes, I read that in the documentation, which is one reason I opted for new as opposed to a used one we were considering.

And pay real attention as to when the warranty starts. Date of manufacturing or date of sale.

Two months before I bought my 2006 eight year old at the time Safari Dometic paid Airstream at Jackson Center to put in a new AC. Apparently there was a major recall involved. The water heater was also replaced at the same time. The PO screwed up the winterizing. Only cost to previous owner was 1/2 the labor. Both impressive warrenty outcomes.

Recalls are not warranty work.

Well, it wasn't common to me. I have learned a lesson. Now I am having a tech go out to diagnose my AC to see if the $499 Extended Service Plan I got from Good Sam is any good....

minor hijack - Frank's Trailer Works put a tankless water heater in my Avion. Never particularly minded taking short showers - but OH - OH - OH... !

So if you need a new water heater, give tankless some serious consideration. The first user of my trailer was my partner Bob, who was recovering from a bypass surgery and wasn't allowed to do climb more than one or two stairs. He said it really helped with the pain.

It's a real luxury if you've got full hookups!
