AdSeal Caulk

This past Fall, I was dealing with what turned out to be a leak around the base of the TV antenna on my late model AS. Called Airstream for a little advice. Also, was advised they are now using AdSeal caulk. Ordered some and fixed the problem.

With Spring in the not so distant future, am planning some preventative caulking on the roof and elsewhere when the weather improves. My question is what are the opinions about this new(to me anyway) caulk? When talking to AS, my first thought was that this must be a better product.... Now, wondering if it might just be cheaper.

Thoughts would be appreciated. Also, where do folks buy to get the freshest product. Ordered some caulk from an Airstream dealer a year or so ago-think it had simply gone bad-seemed to be "separating" in the tube.

Thanks folks.

I noticed with interest a few days back that Adseal caulk was part of the 'maintenance' kit that Airstream Corp. sells out of its store. It seems to be one of the neutral silicone-based caulks, perhaps similar to GE Silicone II that is widely available in the big box hardwares. Regular silicone caulks are acidic, and not appropriate for aluminum. The more recent non-acidic siicones are advertised as being fine for aluminum, and it appears that Airstream now agrees.

Does anyone know the Adseal product number for the white and gray sealants that Airstream sells?

TinTin,

I have a tube of the grey on hand. What I think is the product number is printed in black on the plastic tube and it is not legible-looks like the printing itself did not adhere very well. The grey is called aluminum/galvanize.

Very little on the tube itself that describes the product.

What I have is from the Airstream factory.

Hopefully, someone here has some thoughts on this product versus the brands we are more familiar with.

Has anyone had some experiences with this "new" caulk that Airstream is using? Thoughts on this product?

Is there a purchasing source other than Airstream?
