Adhesive Recommendations

Checked on the trailer today and moved it to rotate the tires. Noticed a section of rubrail was starting to come loose. Can anyone give some recommendations on the correct adhesive or glue to re-attach this rubrail.

Thanks,
Rick

Just clean very well and use the correct width.
👍

Long long honeymoon just posted a video about replacing the rub rail stuff. Looks simple enough if you need to replace vs just getting adhesive and patching it.

A lot of people don't realize the new trailers have adhered rub rail, not the old grooved type that an insert fits into the metal and is held by friction and compression.

I have used 3m automotive adhesive and/or or two sided automotive trim tape. I got all of it at Advance Auto. There is one adhesive for windshield and another for automotive trim. Either adhesive or the trim tape will work.

If using the adhesive: To hold the rub rail vinyl in place while the adhesive cured, I used sheet metal screws on both sides of the vinyl trim, wedged against the metal.
There's a photo here> https://www.airforums.com/forums/f45...ml#post1480059
The double sided automotive trim tape works best, IMO.

Thanks for the link, but I am not replacing the rub rail, just securing one part that has released from the factory adhesive tape. I'm sure it dried out but we keep the trailer in an enclosed building.
If I use the 3M tape, won't it raise the level of the part I am securing? What about gasket adhesive?

Thanks for all the suggestions.

On our Classic, the original insert has a sticky tape backing to hold it. You just need to clean the old stuff off very well from both sides. Green scotch pad with mineral spirits and/or Brakleen.👍
