69 Safari shock?

Ok, Last year I installed my new axle and shocks. Someone pointed out to me that I installed my shocks upside down. Ok, with that being said, will the shocks work in either position installed? Did I damage them, only have about 600 miles on trailer since put back on the road. Should I take them off and flip them over.

This is my first trailer and it looks like I made a mistake installing them.

They will work in either position but the fluid needs to be at the bottom of its reservoir and the shock will gather debris/water/etc... when upside down. I would just put new ones on, even though they are probably fine.
