2015 FC Bunk Dometic Fridge Problem

I have searched my question and have been unsuccessful. I did see some things on another site but wasn't very thorough.

My trailer is in my driveway and plugged in using the 50amp to 30 to 20 amp outlet. I turned my fridge on to use the fridge for a party. The fridge was set to "Auto" and set at the highest level of cooling. In addition, the propane is near full and is open.

Out of habit, I was in the trailer and checked the battery level and it read 12.7 which was strange because I am "plugged" in. Turns out kids must of knocked the plug out of outlet.

I then went back in and checked the fridge and saw that most of the frozen stuff was defrosting and that the fridge had a "Check" lite up on display. I turned fridge off and waited a few minutes and turn fridge back on and it worked and light went away. However, if I was traveling and was using the gas to run the fridge I would arrive to a defrosted and warm fridge depending on how far I traveled. I have a bunch of trips this season planned and want to make sure I square this away now and not during a trip.

Shouldn't the fridge automatically fire when the it was no longer plugged in?

Either than the gas not being turned to on or the gas not switching over to the other tank if one were empty (they are not just topped them off in pat 2 weeks and haven't used) what else would make the fridge not stay on?

Hi

On the "normal" fridge, it tries to fire the LP multiple times. Once it goes through this sequence, you get the "check" signal. It does not continue to try indefinitely. It is quite possible to get enough air in an un-used LP line that the ignition sequence will time out before the fridge "lights up". Most recommend you fire up the stove for a minute or so after turning on the LP for this reason. Exactly which appliance best purges your system is a "that depends" sort of thing. You may have to experiment a bit.

Second possibility is a failed / dirty igniter on the fridge or a dirty gas orifice. Both will require a bit of digging to check out. It may be as simple as a "cooked bug" in the wrong place

Possible spider webs in the combustion area or in the flue?

Let the fridge run on propane and check the flame and sounds by looking inside the exterior access door. If the flame is inconsistent, noisy, or goes on and off, you might have to research further.

Good luck!

Peter

PS would also recommend that you test run all other propane appliances incl. water heater at the same time to rule out the possibility that your propane regulator is going bad.

When you are running, the air disturbance WILL extinguish the fire that keep the fridge running on propane and give you that fault, you should operate in 12VDC mode when running

Most AS trailers do not have a 12 volt DC fridge cooling mode, and plenty of folks run the fridge on propane while towing. Lots of threads on this.
