2012 FC floor squeaks. Is that normal?

Hi All,

Since we picked up our 2012 25FB Flying cloud, there has been a squeak in the floor when stepping on it. It only happens in one area, a couple feet in from the rear doorway and in front of the kitchen sink.

It squeaks when you step on it, and again when you step off of it. I don't know if it is the subfloor or the laminate, although I think it is the subfloor.

My question: Is that (somewhat) normal, or is it something I should have them try to fix under warranty?

Thanks in advance,
Jeff

It's the edge of two pieces of subfloor plywood rubbing together as they flex. We have a similar issue in our 2011 28' International up near the rear bed. To get at the subfloor is a major job and we didn't think it was worth the hassle, even under warranty, so we decided to live with it. I've lived in some creeky old houses in my time so the occasional squeak from the Airstream floor doesn't really concern me. I appreciate, though, that not everyone is as easy going as me and some would just HAVE to get it sorted!

We also have the same squeak from the floor when walking near the right bottom corner of the bed. The AS is a 2012 28' International. Thank you for the explanation.

Hi, mine had a squeak in the floor just before the bedroom. I had that one fixed under warranty. Later it had a squeak near the kitchen; That one came and went. Last time out, while in one campground, my bathroom floor really creaked. At the next campground it was silent. [just the trailer flexing]

MrUKToad, thanks for the explanation!

ROBERTSUNRUS, do you know what they had to do to fix the squeak? I'm wondering if the fix is worse than the problem in this case; getting to the subfloor sounds very involved.

I would like it fixed. Every time I hear the squeak, which is every time I go in our out of the trailer, I think "How much did I pay for this thing?"!

Hi, not exactly; I do know that they cut a round hole in the belly pan so as to not have to remove it. They may have driven some wedges between the floor and the frame, but I really don't know. It was done at C&G Trailer Service In Bellflower, California.

We have a 2012 FC 30 ft that has a floor squeak by the closet. Seems to be one spot in the floor, if you step over it, no squeak. Have read the other posts about the fix being a big deal and have decided to wait further into the warranty period and see if other floor areas develop similar squeaks before talking to dealer.
